The Dreaded "But"
So, basically, each time I read another Canon!Sherlock Holmes tale, it becomes my new favorite.  I love how cryptic Sherlock is—even to Watson. And yet… Watson just goes along with it.  This is right out of THE NORWOOD BUILDER. Which is a storyline that has Holmes being delightfully dramatic, and Watson around just for moral support.
